BTVI Extension Campus

BTVI's Extension Campuses offer technical and vocational programmes across the islands of Abaco, Eleuthera and Exuma thereby providing opportunities for training and skill development to traditional and non-traditional students.

Abaco Extension Campus

Thanks to the Ministry of Education and Technical and Vocational Training, BTVI has been granted access to the site of the former Dundas and Murphy Town Primary School in Abaco, the ‘Boating Capital of The Bahamas”. Currently, this Extension Campus focuses on supporting workforce development and ongoing recovery efforts following the catastrophic Hurricane Dorian as BTVI seeks to empower Abaconians with the vocational training needed to contribute to the island's rebuilding and economic growth. BTVI has retrofitted the facilities to include labs that support programme delivery in Beauty, Business and Construction Trades. Administrative offices have also been established to support operations.

Eleuthera Extension Campus

Thanks to the Ministry of Education and Technical and Vocational Training, BTVI has been granted access to the site of the former Green Castle Primary School in Green Castle, Eleuthera to expand technical and vocational training programmes to persons on this island. Renovations involved upgrades to the main building which houses three classrooms, an administrative office, two interior bathrooms, a storage closet, a kitchen, a conference room and a reception area. An exterior work area is used as an instructional space for the Construction and Mechanical Trades. This Extension Campus seeks to fill the need for skilled professionals as a result of the growth being experienced due to investments in tourism and infrastructure. Hence, the training provided by BTVI is instrumental to the island’s further development. Nearby communities to BTVI include Rock Sound, Tarpum Bay and Governor's Harbour.

Exuma Extension Campus

Thanks to space leased through the Exuma Foundation, BTVI continues to expand technical and vocational training by way of the Exuma Extension Campus in George Town. The building is designated to house the main administrative office, classrooms and computer lab as well as male and female restrooms. Additionally, there is a mini exterior lab for carpentry, plumbing and masonry as well as electrical installation and a small Beauty Trades lab. This Extension Campus plays a pivotal role in enhancing the island's industrial capacity by providing targeted vocational training to meet the demands of its key sectors: eco-tourism, fishing, boating and luxury real estate. BTVI's presence in Exuma is a strategic move to empower the local community through skill development, alleviating housing challenges by equipping residents with the necessary skills for construction and related trades.
