BTVI Tuition Grant & Financial Aid: What You Need to Know!

What is the BTVI Tuition Grant?

The BTVI Tuition Grant is a government-funded award designed to help new students and alumni cover tuition costs at BTVI. This means you can focus on your education without worrying about tuition debt. You invest in your future—BTVI invests in you!

How to Apply

Applying for the BTVI Tuition Grant is easy! Follow these steps:

  • Click the BTVI Grant Application link (log in to your student portal)
  • Select your Award Year (e.g., 2024-2025)
  • Click Submit
  • Complete any sections in red by clicking Update
  • Click I am Finished – Submit

Once your application is approved, you’ll receive an Award Letter via your BTVI student email.

What Does the Grant Cover?

The BTVI Tuition Grant covers:

  • Registration Fees
  • Tuition
  • E-Books and Textbooks
  • Certification Exams

What’s NOT Covered?

  • BTVI Application Fees
  • Graduation Fees
  • Capital Fee

Programmes Covered by the Tuition Grant

  • Certificates
  • Diplomas
  • Associate Degree Programmes
  • Special Interest Certificates

What's NOT Covered?

  • Professional Development Courses (e.g., Basic Electrical, Basic Plumbing, Basic Sewing, QuickBooks, etc.)

Who Qualifies for the Tuition Grant?

New Students:

  • Must be a Bahamian citizen
  • Must not have another scholarship or award
  • New Providence students: Enrol in at least 3 courses (9 credits)
  • Grand Bahama and Family Island students: Enrol in at least 2 courses (6 credits)

Returning Students:

  • Must be a Bahamian citizen
  • Must not have another scholarship or award
  • Must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0
  • New Providence students: Enrol in at least 3 courses (9 credits)
  • Grand Bahama and Family Island students: Enrol in at least 2 courses (6 credits)

How to Maintain the Tuition Grant

To keep your grant, you must:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Meet the minimum course load requirement
  • Complete your programme within the designated timeframe (an extension of 6-12 months may be granted for courses that are not frequently offered)

If your GPA falls below 2.0, you will be placed on academic probation.

If your GPA drops below 1.50, you will be removed from the programme.

When is the Grant Available?

The BTVI Tuition Grant is available for:

  • Fall Semester
  • Spring Semester
  • Summer Sessions

What Happens If…?

I Fail a Course?

You must pay to retake any course in which you received a D or F>.

I Withdraw from a Class?

You will be responsible for paying for the withdrawn course out of pocket when retaking it.

I Need to Reapply?

Returning students must apply every Fall semester and requalify each year.

There’s a Bill on My Account?

All registered students will see a bill on their account—please allow until the end of the semester for it to be cleared.

  • Fees include a BTVI certificate upon program completion.
  • Certification and licensure fees are not included.
  • Full refunds are only provided if the program or course is canceled by BTVI.
I Need a Refund?

Before making any payments, check with Financial Aid to confirm your Tuition Grant status.

How to Request Your E-Books

Include the following details in your email:

  • Student ID
  • Scholarship Letter or Proof of Payment
  • Class Schedule or Course Syllabus
