Associate of Applied Science Degree Programmes

Electronics Engineering Degree

In the Associate of Applied Science in Electronics Engineering, students acquire the skills needed to maintain common electrical and electronic devices and instruments. Emphasis is on the installation, diagnosis, and repair of computer systems; digital communication equipment; industrial control systems including motor controllers, programme logic controllers, and sensors; and various other electronic equipment/systems. Students complete a 160-hour internship during which they gain practical hands-on experience.

Students are required to pass the industry-recognized Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certification examination and are eligible to sit internationally recognized certification examinations such as CompTIA IT Fundamentals, A+ Essentials, and A+ Practical.

Media Technology Degree

The Associate of Applied Science in Media Technology provides students with the foundational knowledge and skills which prepare them for work in the creative and competitive field of media technology. Students are exposed to theoretical and practical training in video, television, and audio production and complete a 160-hour internship during which they acquire hands-on practical experience.

They complete the industry-recognized Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certification examination and are eligible to sit the internationally recognized CompTIA IT Fundamentals and A+ Essentials certification examinations. Upon successful completion of this programme, students can enter the field as audio or video technicians, videographers, audio editors, or on-air producers.

Certificates and Diploma Programmes

Electronics Technology Certificate

The Certificate (Level II) in Electronics Technology equips students with the skills needed to operate and maintain electronic systems. Students learn the fundamentals of electricity and electronics, build and troubleshoot digital circuits, and use precision test equipment to analyse, troubleshoot, and repair electronic circuitry.

They complete a 160-hour internship, gaining practical, hands-on experience, and are eligible to sit the industry-recognized Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certification examination. This programme prepares students for entry-level engineering roles in the cable and electronic communication industries and offers supplemental training for individuals currently or previously employed in these fields.

Media Technology Assistant Certificate

The Certificate Level II in Media Technology Assistant introduces students to foundational concepts in audio and video production and prepares them for entry level positions in the media and broadcast industries. Students learn to use analog and digital technologies to capture and produce media content and acquire the skills needed to plan and execute video productions in a variety of environments. Additionally, they learn to use multimedia technology to develop a variety of products and programmes.

Students complete the internationally recognised Occupational Safety and Health Administration Certification Examination and a 160-hour internship during which they acquire practical hands-on industry experience. Students are prepared to sit the CompTIA IT Fundamentals Certification Examination.
