Instructional Service Centres
BTVI partners with various schools and communities to deliver vocational and technical programmes in the Family Islands. With campuses located in Moore’s Island and North Andros, BTVI brings educational opportunities to underserved areas, empowering local communities with the skills needed for sustainable growth.
Moore’s Island Instructional Service Centre
BTVI, in partnership with the Department of Education, offers BTVI courses at Moore’s Island All Age School. BTVI’s classes were initially held in the school's multi-purpose room, but as programme offerings grew, two additional classrooms were added. The multi-purpose room has an average size of 60' x 20' and the ability to hold 30 people. Two classrooms were also made available to BTVI, each having an estimated size of about 28' x 22'. Classes are offered through a combination of hybrid and traditional modalities. Despite its modest size and limited resources, Moore’s Island maintains a strong cultural identity rooted in maritime skills and community pride.
North Andros Instructional Service Centre
Thanks to its partner, Huntley Christie High School - formerly North Andros High – BTVI offers programmes and courses which help achieve its mandate to bolster the skills of Androsians. Andros is the largest island in The Bahamas, both in land area and ecological diversity, yet it remains one of the least densely populated and is known by locals as “The Sleeping Giant.”
BTVI has access to seven classrooms, two computer labs, a Carpentry, Auto Mechanics, Cosmetology, Clothing and Home Economics Labs. BTVI's presence in North Andros has been transformative: graduates have maintained or secured employment in government offices and established their own businesses, contributing to the island's economic development.
