In a move to demonstrate goodwill and show commitment to partnership, the Union of Tertiary Educators of The Bahamas (UTEB) recently made a donation to the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute’s (BTVI) food pantry.

The contribution included, but was not limited to, flour, sugar, grits, rice, tuna and tissue.

UTEB’s President, Donald Thompson, said the initiative goes a long way in showing the union’s role in corporate, social responsibility.

“It is a privilege to make this investment. This is what trade unions ought to be about, setting the pace in giving,” said Mr. Thompson.

BTVI’s Interim President, Dr. Linda A. Davis thanked the union on behalf of the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs and indicated that the donation would help to fortify the current resources in BTVI’s Student Affairs’ clothing and food pantry.

“Our students are first. That is why we are here. We do what we can to ensure they are not caught short. Our corporate social responsibility is to make sure we give back, so I am pleased to accept this on behalf of the institution and thank you for your generosity,” said Dr. Davis.
