The programmes in Information and Communications Technology help students develop practices and skills needed to function effectively in a technological environment. We help our students acquire the knowledge needed to work in the IT industry and provide numerous opportunities for hands-on learning experiences. Additionally, from entry-level support to intermediary technical specialty to advanced networking and software development, our IT programmes prepare students to sit internationally recognised certification exams at each level and function in any technical field relative to their preferred programme of study.
Associate of Applied Science Degree Programmes

The Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology Management provides students with a well-rounded
understanding of the core knowledge and skills needed to pursue various careers in the IT industry. Students
acquire soft and technical skills essential for providing customer support in a networked office and business
environment. They learn to install and troubleshoot IT equipment, implement basic web applications and support
users. The programme also seeks to provide the specialised know-how and critical-thinking skills required for a
career as an IT associate level manager. As a result, students are introduced to key project management principles
required by industry professionals. Students are required to sit internationally recognised certification exams
such as CompTIA IT Fundamentals, A+, Network+, Linux+, Project+, Security+, Microsoft Windows and OCA Java
Programmer.

for desktop and web applications. Software engineers work with other IT professionals such as hardware and network
engineers, programmers and technical writers. The IT Software Engineering programme helps students acquire the
knowledge and skills essential for supporting, developing, testing and maintaining specific software programs and
apps. Students are introduced to basic IT management concepts and receive some training in business and project
planning and management. They are required to sit internationally recognised certification exams which may include
CompTIA IT Fundamentals and Linux+ along with the Oracle Certified Associate and Professional Programmer.

Information Technology Support Specialist
The Diploma in Information Technology Support Specialist provides students with IT knowledge and training at an
intermediate level. The programme’s main goal is to produce industry qualified IT support technicians for a small
business environment conducting IT management tasks and to prepare individuals for IT sales positions and service
and support roles in scalable IT-related environments. Students learn to configure, troubleshoot and maintain
computer systems and networks and are introduced to the internet and software programming for apps. Additionally,
they learn to design, install, configure and maintain small office and home office (SOHO) local area networks and
perform backups and disaster recovery. They also acquire soft skills in technical operational procedures and
customer relations. Students are required to sit the internationally recognised CompTIA IT Fundamentals and A+
certification exams.

Information Technology Entry Level
The Certificate in Information Technology Entry Level introduces students to the field of IT. This one-semester
programme helps students acquire a working knowledge of computers, mobile devices, operating systems, internet
applications and software programming. An excellent first step towards a career in IT, the programme is especially
beneficial to individuals seeking entry level positions in small sales and service-oriented environments; that is,
individuals who will be working in the field but will not be required to perform technical tasks. Students are
required to sit the internationally recognised CompTIA IT Fundamentals certification exam.
