Student Affairs
Welcome to the Office of Student Affairs! We are pleased that you have chosen the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI) for your technical and vocational education and career training.
The Office of Student Affairs provides programmes and services that enhance the student experience both in and out of the classroom. We do this through our new student orientation programme as well as our counseling and academic advising, student life programming and career placement services.
From admission to graduation, we are committed to guiding our students through academic and personal challenges. We seek to ensure that every student takes full advantage of the post-secondary technical and vocational opportunities available at BTVI. We are the support mechanism. We help safeguard our students’ academic success and help them develop lifestyles that are emotionally and socially healthy. We do this by offering individual and group counseling, seminars and workshops on topics which include, but are not limited to:
- Assertiveness Training
- Anger Management
- Stress Management
- Interpersonal Relationships
We especially encourage our students with disabilities and/or special needs to register with Student Affairs at the point of admission. We will make every effort to provide appropriate support services and reasonable learning accommodations to facilitate their full participation in their chosen programme of study.
At the New Providence Campus, we are located in EE1 with services available Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Appointments are encouraged; however, students requiring immediate assistance may walk-in Monday through Thursday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and Friday from 10:00 am to 12 noon.
As of Fall 2023, the Student Services Centre Northern Bahamas Campus will offer a variety of support services including success and general advising, personal counseling, degree planning and service learning for all students including students with disabilities or special needs. The centre will be committed to providing opportunities that enhance the educational experience and promote student success throughout Grand Bahama and the neighbouring Family Islands.
