Position Overview:
This position has overall responsibility for planning, creating, maintaining, upgrading and operation of the physical campus and facilities conducive to teaching, learning and support activities. This post also has overall responsibility for the management of the custodial staff and the maintenance of sanitization standards on the physical campus and facilities.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Technology preferred. Relevant license and or certifications and working knowledge in the relevant fields that are encompassed by the Physical Plant department e.g. Plumbing, Electrical, Painting, Carpentry, HVAC etc. A professional Energy Manager certification from the Association of Energy Engineers, the Energy Institute or similar organizations would also be an asset.
Skills/Experience:
Sound understanding of electrical engineering and mechanical systems, as well as demonstrated prior experience managing organizational energy use. Job experience in a supervisory role involving building maintenance operations or skilled trades; ability to read blueprints, work plans and technical specifications; ability to prepare rough sketches of work plans; knowledge of math computation and applications to trades; ability to interpret technical specifications in construction and energy systems; strong supervisory and communications skills.
