BUSINESS OFFICE TECHNOLOGY

The Business Office Technology Associate of Applied Science degree program is designed to prepare students for employment in a variety of positions in today’s administrative and business fields. The program provides the skills necessary to be successful in an office environment. The program emphasizes use of the keyboard and application software. CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY

The Construction Technology Associate of Applied Science degree program provides entry-level training for beginning students in residential and commercial contracting skills. The Associate of Applied Science degree includes instruction for all aspects of residential construction; from infrastructure building (plumbing and electricity) and foundation/masonry, to interior and exterior finishing. The program will be integrated to include technical courses with significant hands-on experience on/off-campus (cooperative learning experience). Partners for cooperative learning will include local General Contractors, Specialty Contractors, and construction companies. This Associate program will create a skilled workforce based on the needs expressed by local construction businesses/owners as recommended by the Program Advisory Committee (PAC). This program requires two (2) years for completion provided that the student is full-time. The Bahamas Technical & Vocational Institute Associate of Applied Science degree in Construction Technology is awarded upon successful completion of the program.

ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING INSTALLERS & REPAIRERS

The Electronics Engineering Installers and Repairs Associate of Applied Science degree program offer opportunities for students desiring to learn about the field of electronics in such areas as analog and digital circuits, computers, instrumentation, communications, microprocessors, cabling and fiber optic systems. The program prepares students for hardware & A+ software certification and CompTia Network Plus certification. The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute Associate of Applied Science degree in Electronics Engineering Installers and Repairers is awarded upon successful completion of the program.

 

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

The Human Resources Management Associate of Applied Science degree program prepares students with human resources skills that can be applied in any organization whether private, public, non-governmental agencies, regional or international organizations. It will also prepare students for supervisory work in Human Resource Management. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT

The Information Technology Management Associate of Applied Science degree program provides students with a firm understanding of computer hardware and software, and its interaction in a networked environment. The program also provides soft skills and technical skills for providing customer support in a networked office and business environment. The program’s content prepares students to install/troubleshoot information technology equipment, understand and implement basic web applications and support its users. The program provides key project management concepts including scheduling, estimating, coordinating, controlling, budgeting, and staffing of projects. Additionally, the program also prepares students for hardware, A+ software certification, MCP Exam 70-210 (a core requirement for MCSA and MCSE certificates), Microsoft® Office Project 2007 and CompTia Network Plus certification. The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute Associate of Applied Science degree in Information Technology Management is awarded upon successful completion of the program.

MEDIA TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT

The Associate of Applied Science in Media Technology program seeks to develop students to be on the cutting edge which will equip them to work in the creative and competitive field of media technology. Students will be exposed to a blend of theoretical and practical training such as video, television, and audio production all of which will prepare them to enter the field as an audio or video technician, videographer, audio editor, and on-air producer. Trained and experienced in the industry, our faculty delivers content to give students the foundational skills and knowledge in the media industry. Students are required to complete 160 hours of internship and they will be eligible to sit the Adobe Premier certification to adequately prepare them for the competitive and exciting field of media technology.

NETWORKING ENGINEERING

The Associate of Applied Science degree in Network Engineering is an Information Technology degree with a concentration on networking. The program emphasizes the necessary knowledge for a network professional to support and maintain specific networking environments. In addition, students are required to sit internationally recognized certification exams related to specific levels of classes in the program. Certifications may include; CompTIA IT Fundamentals, Network Plus, Certified Wireless Specialist (CWS) and Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA). The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute Associate of Applied Science degree in Network Engineering is awarded upon successful completion of the program.

 

OFFICE ADMINISTRATION

The Office Administration Associate of Applied Science degree program is a sequence of courses designed to prepare the student to enter the workforce as an Office Manager. The skills, knowledge, and attitudes to be acquired by the student are found in the course syllabi. SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

The Associate of Applied Science degree in Software Engineering is an Information Technology degree with concentration on software programming for desktop and web applications. Software engineers work with many other information technology (IT) professionals, such as hardware and network engineers, programmers and technical writers. The program emphasizes the necessary knowledge for a software professional to support, develop, test and maintain specific software programs and applications. In addition, students are required to sit internationally recognized certification exams related to specific levels of classes in the program. Certifications may include: CompTIA IT Fundamentals and Linux+ along with the Oracle Certified Associate & Professional Programmer. The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute Associate of Applied Science degree in Software Engineering is awarded upon successful completion of the program.
