The EducationUSA Advising Center in The Bahamas is slated to officially occupy space on the New Providence campus of the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI) in the coming weeks.

In preparation of the opening, the US Embassy’s Public Affairs Officer, Suemayah Abu-Douleh and Education Cultural Specialist, Chanelle Sands, recently toured the BTVI campus on Old Trail Road, including the EducationUSA office space. The tour was led by BTVI’s Interim President, Dr. Linda A. Davis, accompanied by Dean of Student Services, Racquel Bethel.

In 2019, BTVI became host of the new EducationUSA Advising Center, but did not have a dedicate space. The center is the official source of information and guidance for anyone in The Bahamas interested in studying at a college or university in the United States. It will offer professional educational advising services to local students, promoting a variety of academic opportunities, while supporting students, parents, teachers, local government and higher education institutions in their efforts to achieve their academic mobility goals.

There will also be free introductory public information sessions on various topics of U.S. education, webinars, individual consultations on U.S. study and application support services. The center will also provide logistical support to accredited U.S. higher education institutions on recruitment in The Bahamas, as well as support public events such as presentations and fairs to promote exchange opportunities, working closely with the local educational community.

There are over 4,700 accredited institutions throughout the United States.
